Role of the Front Player
By Brad “Sup’ Airman” Turner
Playing the front is possibly the most physically demanding position in paintball. It requires lightning speed, cramming yourself into extremely painful positions, and facing a wall of paint almost every time you even peek out of your cover. This article is to outline the jobs and necessary skills of becoming a tournament level front player.

Oil and compressed air do not, and should not be mixed. Many people have taken to the practice of dropping paintgun oil into the fill nipple of their compressed air system, especially in the hopes of sealing a leaky fill nipple.

The essence of paintball, and perhaps of all sport, comes down to one thing: man vs. man. No, we’re not talking about some high school literature theory. Throw out Shakespeare when you walk onto the paintball field, because it gets down to the bare essentials – either dominate or be dominated.

This is a good play if you can hide real good. Get a old mask and a net made for hiding. Put the net down to make it look like someone is laying down there then put the mask down just to make it look more real.

Shooting drill
This drill is great because it simply practices your shot. First, you need to get some targets to shoot at. An old paintball mask and or tubes work pretty well, but really anything works. Whether it be an empty 2 liter bottle, or a piece of wood, it's fine. Get a few targets and place them in different positions on the field (bunkers, behind bunkers, etc.) Place them on the far side of the field (opposite direction from you), and others close to you (like enemy front players). Now, get behind a bunker that allows you to shoot at both groups of targets (front, back). Now practice shooting at each target you have setup. Here's how you want to proceed. Say you are going to come out the right side.

Squeegie Trick
While hiding behind a bunker wave your squeegie in the air, to make it seem that you are cleaning your gun. Someone will pick up on that and rush your bunker, and as soon as they arrive you can take them out.
